Frenchville Sports Club is thrilled to announce the return of Rocky’s Ultimate Cash Catch for 2025, inviting anglers from across Australia to cast their lines in the stunning Fitzroy River, home to some of the best fishing in the country.
Running from November 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026, this exciting competition offers participants the chance to hook the catch of a lifetime, with a $20,000 cash prize up for grabs for catching a tagged King Threadfin Salmon. To keep the excitement going, 36 tagged fish have been released throughout the Fitzroy River system.
Graeme Brady OAM, Chairman of Frenchville Sports Club, said the event continues to highlight community spirit while supporting sustainable fishing practices.
“We’re proud to bring this event back bigger and better for 2025,” Mr. Brady said.
“Rocky’s Ultimate Cash Catch is all about celebrating our incredible region and providing an opportunity for locals and visitors alike to experience the thrill of fishing the Fitzroy River. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just out for some fun, there’s something for everyone.”
Rockhampton Mayor Tony Williams praised the competition’s impact in reinforcing Rockhampton’s reputation as Australia’s home of trophy-sized King Threadfin.
“It’s fantastic to see this event generating excitement on our river and promoting Rockhampton as one of the nation’s leading recreational fishing destinations.”
The 2025 competition also offers extra chances to win, with a $2,500 bonus prize available if the tagged fish is caught outside the competition period, and a $1,000 participation draw for all registered entrants who are members of Frenchville Sports Club at the close of the event.
Entry is free and open to anglers of all ages, with participants required to register online at frenchvillesportsclub.com.au or in person at Frenchville Sports Club.
If a tagged Threadfin is caught, anglers must immediately contact InfoFish (1800 077 001) and provide the tag’s serial number for verification.
Frenchville Sports Club would like to thank Rockhampton Regional Council and Advance Rockhampton, for their continued support of this community initiative.
Registrations open from 1st November 2025.
