Frenchville Sports Club Spreads Joy with Salvation Army Gift Giving Tree Handover

Wednesday 11th December 2024

In a heartfelt ceremony held today, Frenchville Sports Club celebrated the handover of gifts collected through its annual Salvation Army Gift Giving Tree initiative.

This cherished tradition showcases the generosity of the Club's members and the wider Rockhampton community, with unwrapped gifts donated to brighten the holidays for families in need.

The Salvation Army Gift Giving Tree initiative encourages community members to place gifts under the tree at Frenchville Sports Club, demonstrating the true spirit of giving. These gifts will now be distributed by the Salvation Army, bringing hope and joy to those who may be facing hardship this festive season.

Graeme Brady OAM, Chairman of Frenchville Sports Club, spoke warmly about the initiative.

“We’re incredibly proud to host the Salvation Army Gift Giving Tree. The holiday season is about coming together, sharing kindness, and supporting those in need. The generosity of our members and the wider community reflects the values we hold dear as a Club.”

Major Peter Sutcliffe, representing the Salvation Army Rockhampton, expressed his gratitude to the Frenchville Sports Club.

“We are deeply thankful for the ongoing support of Frenchville Sports Club and its members. These gifts make a real difference in the lives of local families. Knowing that everything collected stays within our community is a reminder of the power of local kindness and compassion.”

Majors Miriam and Peter Sutcliffe have dedicated over 30 years of service to the Salvation Army, with the past three years spent serving the Capricorn Region. As they prepare to move on to a new community, this event also marks the end of their work in Rockhampton. Their commitment to supporting families in need has left a lasting impact, and they will be greatly missed by the local community.

This year’s Gift Giving Tree handover highlights the strength of community spirit and generosity in Rockhampton, ensuring Christmas is a time of hope and joy for all.
