Frenchville Sports Club Unveils Solar Covered Car Park: A Sustainable Future for Our Community

Wednesday 5th June 2024

Frenchville Sports Club today officially opened their new Solar Covered Car Park, a landmark project that showcases their unwavering commitment to sustainability and community support. This state-of-the-art facility not only provides convenient and sheltered parking for their members and guests but also significantly reduces their carbon footprint and energy costs.

Graeme Brady OAM, Chairman of Frenchville Sports Club, expressed his pride and enthusiasm for this innovative project.

"The Solar Covered Car Park is a testament to our dedication to environmental sustainability and our ongoing efforts to support the Central Queensland community. This project aligns perfectly with our vision of creating a greener future while enhancing the amenities we offer to our members." said Mr. Brady.

“The Solar Covered Car Park features six bays of solar panels that generate nearly 400kw of clean, renewable energy, thereby reducing the Club's reliance on non-renewable energy sources by 38%. It is also complimented by a further four bays of shade cloth covered car parks. The combination of both structures provides significant shade for our members and guests who visit the Club. This initiative is part of Frenchville Sports Club's broader commitment to environmental responsibility, which also includes various other sustainable practices and initiatives” Mr Brady said.

Mr Brady added that the opening of the Solar Covered Car Park is just the first of many exciting developments at the Frenchville Sports Club as the Club implements its Master Plan.

"Our members and the broader community are at the heart of everything we do," Mr. Brady added. "This project is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to meeting their needs and supporting their interests. We are proud to offer this new facility, which combines convenience with sustainability, and we look forward to the positive impact it will have on our community."
